Composition and release form:Lyophilized sterile powder for injection:
1 bottle of Timalin contains a complex of polypeptide fractions isolated from the thymus gland (thymus) of cattle, 10 mg;
the solvent is an isotonic solution of sodium chloride in 2 ml ampoules;
5 or 10 bottles complete with NaCl in the package.
Pharmacological propertiesTimalin - immunomodulator; has the ability to stimulate the body's immunological reactivity: regulates the number of T-and B-lymphocytes, stimulates the response of cellular immunity; enhances phagocytosis. It also stimulates the processes of regeneration and blood formation in cases of their oppression.
IndicationsUsed in adults and children as an immunostimulant and biostimulator in the complex therapy of diseases accompanied by a decrease in cellular immunity, including acute and chronic purulent processes and inflammatory diseases, in case of burn disease, trophic ulcers, etc., as well as in suppression of immunity and hematopoietic functions after radiation or chemotherapy in cancer patients and other pathological processes.
The drug is also used for the prevention of infectious complications, depression of immunity and blood formation, regeneration processes in the post-traumatic and postoperative periods, during radiation and chemotherapy of cancer.
There is evidence of the effectiveness of thymalin in the treatment of erysipelas, chronic pyelonephritis, chemotherapy of pulmonary tuberculosis and other diseases.
Dosage and administrationInject thymalin deep into the muscles (avoiding contact with the blood vessels).
For injection, dilute the contents of the vial in 1 - 2 ml of isotonic Sodium chloride solution and mix the contents with gentle shaking, avoiding the formation of foam, until a uniform suspension is obtained.
Adults should be taken in 5–20 mg daily (30–100 mg per course).
Children up to 1 year injected with 1 mg;
1 - 3 years 1 - 2 mg,
4 - 6 years 2 - 3 mg,
7-14 years 3 to 5 mg.
Duration of a course is 3 - 10 days, depending on the severity of immunity disorders.
If necessary, repeat the course (after 1 - 6 months).
With the preventive purpose, intramuscularly is administered daily to adults at 5 - 10 mg, for children - at 1 - 5 mg for 3 - 5 days.
Allergic reactions are possible.
